Solstice Theatre - HARVEY, by Mary Chase (EN)

One of the longest running comedies in Broadway and West End history, Harvey has endeared generations of audiences with the relationship between the amiable Elwood P. Dowd and his best friend, the 6’1” invisible white rabbit which only he can see. 

When Elwood's sister Veta attempts to commit him to a sanatorium, she accidentally admits a dark secret of her own. Her admission sets off a comedy of errors, which sends the sanatorium staff on a wild goose chase to lock both Veta and Elwood away, as “Harvey” forces everyone involved to question reality and their own sanity. The behavior of the sanitarium’s psychologist and his staff raise the age-old question of who is more dangerous to society: the easy-going dreamer with a vivid imagination or the people who want him to conform to the accepted version of reality.

In the end Veta has an important choice to make; will she have her brother conform to become a normal, respectable member of society (and you know what bastards they are!), or accept him as he is?

Solstice Theatre is an independent theatre society aiming to create a platform for English amateur theatre in Groningen. Everyone, from young to old, student and working, local and international, is welcome to join and become a part of classical English theatre productions!
